How the math works
On Free, Cortex collects a 10% application fee via Stripe on each sale — you see it as a line item on your Stripe dashboard. On Pro, you pay $99/mo on your card and Cortex takes no cut of your sales.
Breakeven: at $990/mo in sales, 10% is $99 — Pro pays for itself. Any month above that, Pro keeps more in your pocket.

- Who's the merchant of record for my sales?
- You are. Cortex uses Stripe Connect — you connect your own Stripe account and money flows directly to your Stripe balance. Cortex never touches your funds.
- What happens to the 10% fee on a refund?
- We refund the platform fee automatically when you fully refund a sale, so you don't eat the 10% on refunded orders.
- Can I switch between Free and Pro?
- Anytime. Upgrades take effect immediately and stop the 10% fee on new sales. Downgrades take effect at the end of your billing period.
- Do I need to pay for AI tokens?
- No. Cortex's MCP server lets your own Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or Cursor subscription drive the platform — Cortex doesn't bill you for AI usage. (Light in-app AI drafters are included.)
